Remembering: Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh
“I am a continuation, like the rain is a continuation of the cloud.”
- Thich Nhat Hanh
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 95. His transition was revealed by Plum Village. He was born in Vietnam becoming a Thiền monk, peace activist, and founder of Plum Village. He inspired and coined the phrase, “Engaged Buddhism.”

I was introduced to his work by my parents and started reading more of his books in 2020. His book “No Mud, No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering” inspired this website. He was one of the most influential Zen masters and an ally of Martin Luther King, Jr. His messages are based on mindfulness, compassion, and nonviolence. Thich Nhat Hanh founded Plum Village a community located in France teaching people how to live in harmony with the earth and each other.
Meditation is something that I struggle with but try to practice as often as I can. The goal is to meditate daily. I use the Plum Village app for guided meditation and refer to their website for online sanghas.
Thank you Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh for your beautiful life and we will always remember you as you transition to the next one.
