HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The first time I watched The Craft, I was at a sleepover. A bunch of pre-teen girls who felt like outcasts watched this film and finally felt seen. The Craft is one of my favorite films and it was fun dressing up as one of the best 90’s characters. Rochelle was portrayed by Rachel True, a 90’s icon. Besides this role, she played Mona in Half & Half and Mary Jane Potman in Half Baked just to name a few. I always felt different growing up, awkward at times but her roles gave a voice to young black girls who felt like outcasts. She also expanded the narrative of black women in horror. Recently, Rachel True spoke about the discrimination she faced and exclusion from The Craft cast reunions. There is no Craft without Rachel True.

Check out this video I created below called “Rochelle’s Freedom.” Her character deserved more so here is an ode to this beautiful Black Queen.
